There is something special about sharing with the larger community through the form of media. Davina Rutherford, Steffon Grant, Matthew Wildgoose and I were on a local talk show, Youth Expressions on Mix 102.1 FM. Nevar Smith, the host, engaged us in questions about our artistic endeavours and the upcoming event, Art Fusion: Emancipation. We expressed why it is so important to highlight men, particularly young men, in a culture saturated with woman empowerment of all facets.
Nevar pointed out the need for more forums that highlight men in The Bahamas, particularly Grand Bahama. He expressed his sense of patriotism involved and appreciation of the creative collaborations that he deemed to be done by "great" artists.
It was fun to be in studio with everyone with such positive energy. It was good to be around friends that are really interested in bringing more to the island of Grand Bahama. I won't forget this moment because the majority of us went to college together and spoke of how we look forward to being impactful when we return home.....and we are doing it!
